No son, that's my toy

Every once in a while daddy needs a toy.

Yes of course I buy things like drillbits and tool related items, but I'm talking about a real toy.

When I was a kid they had some pretty cool toys but now seeing the collection of toys my oldest son is accumulating, I have thought to myself, man I wish I had that when I was younger.

Typically if I find a toy, I give it to PJ, but upon finding an item at a garage sale last weekend, I knew this toy was for me.

At first I thought it was a type of night light and I was totally going to give it to my almost four-year-old, but upon searching Google, I found that what I found was not a nightlight, but a remote-controlled robot called Sphero.

This little robot ball is pretty cool and does a ton of tricks. It is controlled by cell phone, so I tried it out one night and thought to myself, even though this toy is mine, I will play with it with PJ.

PJ and I have had a blast playing with this toy and one day I will give it to him but not now because he is way too young for a cell phone.

Given that a huge chunk of our attention has gone to our needy baby, it has been a new fun way to connect with PJ who has been obsessed with robots since he was almost two.

PJ's birthday came last Saturday, (which is weird because I wrote this last Thursday). It is crazy to think of how fast time is flying and while he is getting faster, smarter, I am getting fatter and slower.

What a year it was for PJ. He is potty trained... Minus night time. He has a bigger bed. He almost colors inside the lines and can write his abbreviated name. He puts together puzzles difficult for me. He is really becoming a “big boy.”

Lincoln is doing better. He still has reflux issues but he is starting to sleep longer at night and stay up longer during the day. He was mad at us for putting him in daycare the other day. After work he just yelled and yelled at Susan and I. But both boys are doing well.
