Malta Schools honor eight at shindig

Eight Malta School Educators - representing over 250 years of teaching - retired last week and a party was held in their honor on Tuesday afternoon.

Lynne Brewer

Position at Malta: Middle school math.

Total years Teaching:

35 (28 at Malta.)

What will you miss most about teaching?

The kids, when they get that 'ooh, ahh' moment, that is just amazing. I will also miss the staff.

What are you planning to do in retirement?

I'm just going to have new adventures. We are just going to rock and roll.

Cindy Christman

Position at Malta: K-through-8.

Total years Teaching:

38 (32 at Malta.)

What will you miss most about teaching?

All the children and all my friends.

What are you planning to do in retirement?

I am going to visit my grandchildren and enjoy life.

Heidi Lulloff

Position at Malta: Many Elementary grades.

Total years Teaching:

26 (18 at Malta.)

What will you miss most about teaching?

The kids! I love these little kids.

What are you planning to do in retirement?

I am going to be a grandma and try to be a help at home on the ranch.

What will you miss most about teaching?

The kids because it is something new with them every day.

What are you planning to do in retirement?

We bought a house in Mesa, Ariz., and we are going to be snowbirds ...my husband is already down there.

Amy Schye

What will you miss most about teaching in Malta?

My relationships with my co-workers, the kids and the community.

What are you planning to do next?

Same job in a different place. I will be one of four counselors at Dickinson High School (North Dakota.)

Tad Schye

Position at Malta: History and Math before 12 years as MES principal.

The kids and the community.

What are you planning to do next?

I will be one of the assistant principals at Dickinson High School (North Dakota.)

Barb Swingen

Position at Malta: Kindergarten

Total years Teaching:

35 (30 at Malta.)

What will you miss most about teaching?

Hugs from the students...I get hundreds (per year.)

What are you planning to do in retirement?

Moving to Fargo, N.D., to be closer to family.

Larry Swingen

Position at Malta: Music teacher.

Total years Teaching:

37 (all at Malta.)

What will you miss most about teaching?

Seeing any and all the kids improve at music over the years, from kindergarten to senior year.

What are you planning to do in retirement?

I think I will play piano more, (musically) accompany college kids, sub at churches...I'm not exactly sure, but it will include music.
