MALTA—Judy Ann Clausen, 69 passed away March 21, 2018, at the Hi-Line Retirement Center due to complications of her illness.
The family received friends on Sunday, March 25, at the Kirkwood Memorial Chapel. Funeral services were Monday, March 26 at the Malta Lutheran Church. Interment was in the Malta Cemetery. Judy was a lifelong resident of the Malta community. Judy was born in Malta, Mont., on September 7, 1948, to John and Laura (Nitz) Clausen.
Judy attended Malta Public Schools where she graduated in May 1966 then attended Northern Montana College where she obtained her two-year business degree. Upon finishing her degree, she became employed at The First State Bank working in multiple different positions. Judy loved her time with all her fellow employees at the bank. After 42 years, Judy retired from the bank in 2010.
Judy was an active member of the Phillips County Historical Society. She was active in Malta Lutheran Church and served as secretary/treasurer for numerous years. Judy served on the Malta 60’s Class Reunion committees, where she was secretary/treasurer.
Judy enjoyed flower gardening where she loved growing gladiolus and petunias. During her retirement, she created many beautiful stained glass art pieces which she shared with many close friends and family members. She also enjoyed crocheting afghans with her trusting canine companions Patty, Janie, and Lucy by her side. Judy loved attending her niece, nephews, great-nephews, and nieces sporting events and activities. Judy and her twin sister Jane loved taking many trips together to Deadwood, S.D., and Fort Belknap to play the machines, where a majority of the time they came out ahead.
Judy is survived by her brother, Dennis (Margie) Clausen of Malta, sister, Grace (Jim) Pankratz of Opheim; nephews and nieces Curtis (Carrie) Clausen Medicine Hat, AB, Canada., Carter (Shyla) Clausen of Malta, John (Alea) Pankratz of Opheim and Laurie Pankratz of Casper, Wyo .; great-nephews and nieces, Payton, Connor, and Kendall Clausen, Brayden and Josh Penner, Emerson and Reed Clausen, Kolby and Eli Pankratz and Hunter and Easton Halstead.
Preceding her in death were her parents John and Laura, and twin sister Jane.
