New board members, racing price increase
Phillips County Motor Sports held their Annual Member's meeting last Saturday afternoon in the Great Northern's Lodge Room with 30 members in attendance.
The annual meeting, officiated by PCMS President Dan Stout, featured the group's annual report, new racing costs, and yearly elections.
Neil Stahl and Frank Baldik were voted in as the group's newest Board Members. Jacy Stolem was voted in as the new Secretary/Treasurer and was also hired as the PCMS book-keeper.
Every year, PCMS votes for three of nine established board seats, with those seats up for election every three years.
Incumbent board members Dylan Bergos, John Carnahan and Roy Case were up for re-election this year, but Carnahan, who also serves as Vice-President stepped down from his board position to allow other members to serve.
Case and Bergos retained their seats through the ballot election, while Stahl was elected for his first term. Baldik was voted in to take over an open seat vacated by board member Dustin ViPond, who was elected in 2017. Baldik began his 2-year term after being voted in unanimously.
Other changes amongst the staff included the election of Stolem as Secretary/Treasurer. Stolem will replace Terry Skones, who stepped down from the position.
The board also approved the hiring of Stolem for the paid position of book-keeper. She will replace Kari Carnahan.
"We are very glad to have her," Stout said.
President Stout retained his position as President and John Carnahan retained his position as Vice President.
The schedule for races was announced at an earlier meeting.
Saturday, May 19 through Sunday, May 20 is scheduled to be the track's first event, a clean up of the track and test and tune.
Saturday, June 2 through Sunday, June 3 is scheduled to be the first points race, coupled with the Annual Car Show.
Prices will go up to $10 for racers in the Sportsman, Pro, and Super Pro Classes. The price for the Pro and Super Pro racers will be $55. The price for Sportsman will be $35. Junior racers will have to pay $20, a price that remained unchanged.
"We haven't raised prices since we started, so it's still pretty cheap," Stout said. "Or at least cheaper than it is anywhere else."
The board approved a $2,000 donation to be paid to the City's fundraiser for a new sound system to be used by the city for events in the City Hall and for other events. The total cost of the sound system is $14,000.
The group announced that there will be a track sale meeting held on Wednesday, March 21.
