One Nation, Under God
The memorial for Bob Voice was held Saturday, March 3, at the Dodson School with a varied gathering of many old friends and associates attending. Lunch was served by the Catholic and Lutheran ladies assisted by school personnel. Former teacher Dan Brown and family were up from Bozeman among others. Because roads were made impassable north of town from blowing snow, George and Berta Anderson came in on a snowmobile. Rob and Cathy Bear were down from Harlem. Polly Solberg has been assisting and helping Tammy these last couple weeks.
Teri Cole was in Malta on business Saturday afternoon. Terri went to Great Falls in the storm Sunday morning to see a granddaughter play in the basketball tournament.
Snow moving has been going on steadily. We have had a couple little warmer days (into the high 20s) so the snow has settled some. But Sunday morning saw it snowing again and we had a hard snowstorm all day with a wind that was drifting the snow badly again. Predictions of snow and cold through next week have us again wondering if spring is coming.
Word has been received that Preston Young, 79, a golf pro who held many positions at different Clubs in Nevada, had passed away in Las Vegas on January 24th. He was married to the former LaDonna Applehans of Dodson and they had one son, Fred.
Two of Dora Henry's great-granddaughters danced in a recital with a group from Great Falls and they earned a silver with Delaney receiving a scholarship of a weeks dance camp next summer for her participation in it. Kortni Wilson of Whitehall danced with a chorus group from Butte and they won gold for the top award. Both girls are eight years old.
Condolences are sent out from the community to the Thackeray and Voice families, the Ereaux and Darrah family in the loss of Claris, and the extended Weigand, Stuart, Burtch and Warren families in the passing of Rose Stuart. All three, Bob Voice, Claris Darrah, and Rose Stuart had close ties in the Dodson community and their funerals were all on Saturday in Malta, Dodson, and Harlem.
Happy Birthday to Nellie Sherman and Serese Pankratz and all others celebrating a birthday this week.
The last word —"I believe that you're here on Earth for a short time, and while you're here, you shouldn't forget it."
Have a good week and hopefully keep your smile and your faith that spring is coming!
