St. Mary's Parish to Host 2nd Annual Nite at the Races

On Friday, February 9, St. Mary's Parish is hosting its 2nd annual "A Nite at The Races" fundraiser. This year's event will again be at the Tin Cup and Marian Hills Golf Course. There will a roast beef dinner with dessert prior to the races. The no-host social hour is from 5 to6 p.m. followed by the meal and races. The cost of the tickets is $25.

A Nite At The Races is an audience-participation event where actual races are shown to the audience to recreate the atmosphere of being at the race track.

Everyone who purchases a ticket will receive $25 in "race money" for betting on the races and a program listing the actual horses and their track records.

Prior to the event, people buy a horse to "own." The cost of "owning" a horse is $20. There will be 10 horses and 10 races. The winning owners will be put in for drawing a prize of $200 in gift cards and gift certificates from local business. There will also be door prizes and 50/50 drawings.

Part of the proceeds from this year's event will be donated to the Hi-Line Retirement Centers Activity Department.

Tickets are available at all three Malta banks and Westside Self Service or you can contact Lance Hould, Cliff Merriman, Jory Schipman or Brenda Rummel. For more information call Brenda Rummel at 301-0936.
