Aaniiih Nakoda College and Phillips County Hospital team again for nursing experience
Aaniiih Nakoda College (ANC) is once again partnering and collaborating with Phillips County Hospital (PCH) to give nursing students enrolled in the Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) program a great clinical experience.
The ASN program at Aaniiih Nakoda College is "growing their own" future registered nurses and the experience provided by a rural community hospital such as PCH gives them hands-on experience working in a rural hospital.
Nurses wear many hats and don't just work in one area of a hospital. Nurses in rural hospitals like PCH work on the inpatient unit, emergency room, and clinic and get a well-rounded experience with health maintenance, providing patient education, and working with patients who are acutely ill or just need urgent care. ANC is very fortunate to have Clinical Resource Registered Nurses, from PCH, preceptor the students in their different clinical assignments.
Jasmine Crasco and Stacy Crasco are not strangers to this role as they worked with students from ANC last spring. ANC is also very fortunate to have Raeanne Wall, Simulation Lab Coordinator, working with students to certify that they are competent to perform care in all the clinical areas.
Many thanks go out to Lonna Crowder, Director of Nursing, and Karyn Jensen, Clinic Nurse Manager of PCH for assisting with providing the students a varied and exciting clinical rotation. Ward VanWichen, CEO, FACHE, has also been very instrumental in assisting the program, as an advisor to ANC's ASN program, and for coordinating the clinical rotations and feeding our students.
