One Nation, Under God
INFO I cleaned out our medicine cabinet the other day.
I remember when Susan and I first became home owners many people saying that you accumulate a lot of stuff over the years. In cleaning out old stuff in a 24-inch cabinet, I found that to be true.
In the front were our most recent purchases, being children’s cough and cold medicines as well as my allergy meds. But further back was another story.
In the back, I had my various vitamins and minerals, alongside dieting aides and pre-workout capsules and powders that I used to take while I was attempting to stay in shape.
I have had some good lifts while in Malta and tossing away the outdated “supplements” brought back some memories. I remembered believing that various proteins would feed my muscles while helping my body get rid of fat. I remembered the ridiculous itches I would get from pre-workouts that were laced with beta-alanine until I was about five minutes into my workout. Seeing these bottles brought me to a place that saddened me because working out has not been a priority of mine for a long time.
I kept sifting through the medicine cabinet and found stuff that really made me feel sentimental.
My first year or so of marriage was a little intimidating, because there were times that Susan would be sick and I would go all over town to get her medicine.
With our first child PJ, things were even more intense because there were times that he would have a cough and we had no idea what was going on.
While we didn’t have anything too hardcore in our cabinets, we had plenty of Mucinex and cold/flu related items.
All-in-all, I am just glad that I didn’t find any dead mice in that cabinet. I am also glad to have opened up some space to get a few things off of the counter.
In other news, PJ has been playing his toddler sized drum set that my mother purchased for him a year ago. Fearing that he will be better than me soon, I hopped on my drum set a couple of times last week. I was a little rusty, but man was it a good workout.
