One Nation, Under God
The Phillips County Library is doing the Classics Challenge again this year. The Challenge has a whole new list of 20 books and sign up starts on Feb. 1, 2018. The challenge is open to junior high and high school students, as well as adults, and is a contest with the ultimate goal of broadening people’s reading tastes. There are three tiers people can choose to participate in — Snack level will read four off the list, the Entrée level reads five, and the Feast level will read six books off the list — and next December the Phillips County Library is increasing its prizes to three lucky entrants, who will have their names drawn for a prizes of $100, $75 and $50 in Dino Dollars when the contest concludes on December 3, 2018. It will never be too late to start the contest — which officially begins on February 1, 2018. If you have already read a book on the Challenge List, you must reread it again. It is acceptable to listen to the book on audio. A very brief report on the book is required. People interested in joining the challenge need to register at the Phillips County Library prior to beginning, and if you have any more questions you are encouraged to call the library at 654-2407.
Last year's Challenge had 21 participants with 7 people meeting their goals. Of those seven participants, two read nine books each, two read eight books, another read seven books and two more readers finished six books.
