Lorraine Rose Hopkins (86) of Boise, Idaho died at her home, surrounded by her loving family on Friday, January 12, 2018.
Lorraine was born on May 17, 1931 in Malta, Mont., to Addie and Herman Primeau. She graduated from Malta High School in 1949. She furthered her education at Montana State University - Northern. There she met and married the love of her life, John L. Hopkins on Nov. 11, 1950. They then moved to Missoula, Mont., where John completed his degree. The growing family moved from Bozeman, Mont., to Pennsylvania, Utah and finally to Boise, Idaho.
Lorraine was a long-time member of St. Mark's Catholic Church. She was a devoted mother of 8 children and an excellent homemaker. She especially loved playing the piano, playing bridge,and traveling to visit her children. Lorraine's favorite exercise was her lifelong Jack Lalanne regimen and walking the mall. She became a mall icon with her colorful holiday themed outfits.
She is survived by her daughters: Karen Leach (Fred) of San Antonio, Texas, Sue Surbrugg (Dave) of Townsend, Mont., Pat Thompson of Incheon, South Korea, Barbara Long (Rick) of Boise, Lynda Hopkins of Boise and her sons Mike Hopkins of Boise, Tomas Hopkins of Shanghai, China and Steve Hopkins of Phnom Penh, Cambodia. She also is survived by 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, John Hopkins.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to: Channel 4 PBS, BSU Athletic Assc. and St. Judes Hospital.
A Memorial Service will be held at Summers Funeral Home in Meridian, Idaho, at 3629 E. Ustick Road, on Friday, January 19 at 2 p.m.
