Malta Chamber honors Young, Demarais as People of Interest

The Malta Chamber of Commerce recently selected Sonia Young and Frances Demarais as People of Interest for their work in the Community.

Sonia Young

Sonia Young gracefully demonstrates what it means a person of influence in Malta. Not only does Sonia work hard to keep the Boys and Girl Club running as smoothly as possible, she also spends lots of time with the high school kids running ReAct. This program helps the youth in Malta learn about drug and alcohol abuse. She helps hold the all-night lock-ins after the high school dances, and is great at coming up with other ideas to keep our youth involved, on the right path, and hopefully out of trouble. Sonia always has a positive attitude and is willing to help whenever needed! She helps influence the most important people in our community, the next generation. Thank you Sonia for your dedication and continued efforts in all you do!

Frances Demarais

Frances Demarais exemplifies what it means to be a positive person of influence for Malta. Whether it's picking up garbage or raking, Frances is always putting time into beautifying Murray Field. Frances has been seen many times shoveling 9th Street to keep it free from snow and ice, as to help walkers not slip. She is an avid supporter of our local youth and attends plays, band and choir concerts, sporting events, Prom and Snowball grand marches, along with almost any other school-related event. Frances is also a familiar face to many of the elderly of our community and takes time out of her day to visit the residents at the Hi-Line Retirement Center. She also is known for her delicious baked goods, which she is also so generous with to many. Thank you Frances for all that you do in and for our community!
