One Nation, Under God

Whitewater News & Opinion for January 3, 2018

Hope you had a nice Christmas!

Sympathy to all people and animals who are out tonight as temperatures vary from 20 to 25 degrees below here in Whitewater.

Get well to all cold-flu victims. (Dress warm to avoid sickness.)

The December 18, 2017 Saco School concert program was wonderful. It was directed by Chris Pippin and featured much talent, including my granddaughter Challise. Pies were served following Santa's visit.

Whitewater Lutheran Church had their children's program and lunch on Dec. 11. Then Christmas Eve, the church held a candle light service with a full church, as many families were home for the holidays.

Last week Allie Olsen drove wagon loads of children on rides around Whitewater. The kids sang and laughed, then ate chili at North 40 Cafe and had a Carol sing.

Since we have snow many children are sledding on hills, a real “Norman Rockwell” scene.

The Wednesday night quilters from Malta; Marcella McEwen, Marilyn Taylor, Marda Southwick, Janet Berg and Elizabeth Stickley were out for “Christmas Lunch” with Lu Besel on Tuesday.

Many families had company for Christmas, including Jeanie Green's family and the Pewitt family, and the Simonsons.

I spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in Saco, Mont., with Gale and Challise, my family. We visited, ate, watched videos and ate some more! Christmas shows on TV and videos are lovely. Gale and Challise had decorations including a huge star on the garage. New Year's is a few days off. Drive Careful!

Happy New Year to all!

Helen Austin
