Schye signs with Valley City

VALLEY CITY, N.D. (VCSU) – Valley City State University volleyball coach Adam Longmore today announced the signing of Ella Schye for the 2018 season.

A 6-foot middle blocker, Schye is currently a senior at Malta High School in Malta, Mont. She recently signed a letter of intent to continue her education and volleyball career at Valley City State University this fall.

“Ella has good size, is long, and will provide some depth in the middle for us,” said Longmore. “We had some honest conversations with Ella during the recruiting process. It’s going to take some time and hard work, but she has the potential to become a very good volleyball player. We are excited to have her join us and eager for the opportunity to begin coaching her.”

Schye racked up 230 kills, 52 blocks, 46 aces and 181 digs during her senior season at Malta High School. She was a 2-time First Team All Conference selection and was named Team MVP as a junior. She has also received accolades in track and field and swimming.

Ella is the daughter of Amy and Tad Schye, and plans to study communications and art while at VCSU. She is also currently a member of the National Honor Society.

Schye joins Makayla Wetzel (Verona, N.D.), Reagan Ingstad (Valley City, N.D.) and Katie Juarez (Angels Camp, Calif.) as signed recruits for the 2018 season.

Valley City State University is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and a conference member of the North Star Athletic Association. The Viking volleyball team posted a 15-13 overall record during the 2017 season and finished fourth in the NSAA standings.
