A few highlights of the bi-monthly City Council Meeting held on Tuesday, December 12, was that the council approved the hire of Lane Link.
Link was hired by Malta Public Works on Friday, December 1, and had agreed to work in the department a week or so later.
“He’s fitting in quite well,” Malta Public Works Director Jim Truelove said at the meeting.
The board approved paying a pair of helpers for the Parks and Recreation Department’s tumbling class.
The Boards approved the November Payroll.
As well as their latest hire, Truelove representing Malta’s Public Works said there was a recent sewer plug on sixth street. At the time of this meeting, the public works department was looking into the source of the plug, which they believe may be construction related. If it is construction related then the bill for fixing will be sent.
The City Clerk Lorie Bond presented the overtime, vacation and sick leave report, the water shut off list and November financial report.
Bond also announced that on January 16 at 1 p.m. there will be a safety course in Saco.
As for the Landfill, Michelle Turville of Bear Paw Development announced a new Draw for the landfill.
“I believe this one will be our final draw,” Turville said.
Payout #6 was approved. There has been a total of $324,000 in payouts towards the $400,000 loan for the project.
The City approved the purchase of 14 lots of property for Bishop Inc. to develop and build homes on those lots.
