One Nation, Under God
Responding to an unusually frigid fall in Northeastern Montana, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is able to offer an upland gamebird hunting opportunity earlier than usual at the Bowdoin National Wildlife Refuge in Malta, Montana. The Refuge currently allows upland gamebird hunting within designated areas of at Bowdoin Refuge. When Lake Bowdoin freezes entirely and waterfowl leave the refuge, we are able to offer additional hunting opportunity in areas normally closed to the public.
Bowdoin National Wildlife Refuge will be opening this special season on Friday, November 24 and Saturday, November 25, 2017, to youth hunting only and we then provide the opportunity for upland game bird hunters of all ages to access this area Sunday, November 26th, 2017 until the close of the Montana upland game bird season. Please consult the Montana Hunting Regulations for Upland Game Birds for all laws and regulations. The first two days of this special season is set aside for youth hunters only and then is opened up for all upland game bird hunters on the third day. In addition, all hunters must check in and check out at the hunter registration kiosk, all hunters must wear an article of orange and all hunters are required to use non-toxic shotgun loads only.
In order to generate interest in the public, we are announcing this opportunity and encourage hunters to visit Bowdoin National Wildlife Refuge from now until the end of the upland game bird season. Please direct all comments and questions to:
