One Nation, Under God

Heart stays closed, for the time being

Thank you to each of you who offered prayers, positives vibes, and advice following my column announcing I was to have open heart surgery. Knowing that a surgeon was to crack open my breastbone and fondle my heart was a scary thing to worry about for the past two months and each of your prayers, your words and wisdom helped alleviate those sometimes dark thoughts.

That is the good news.

Here the so-so news:

My surgery has been postponed and moved to Rochester, Minnesota’s Mayo Clinic. I won’t get into why the procedure was moved (twice, with next to no notice) because it gets me rambling in a not so nice manner about a hospital located in a major Montana City. I am generally a nice person, but when I feel I have been done dirty, I can become wicked-venomous on the old keyboard and though it usually feels good to vent, it generally doesn’t help matters.

So, looks like you have your old newspaper publisher to kick around, with a bum ticker, for the next few months. If you see me belly-side-up in the News’ parking lot, call an ambulance. If that ambulance only has three wheels and a smashed windshield, please park it around back instead of the front of the shop.

Thanks again and aloha,

Mark
