One Nation, Under God
I don’t claim to be a rocket scientist. But every once in a while, you gotta use what the good Lord gives you.
As many know by now on Monday, October 2, our county and Hill County got blasted by a snowstorm.
In the opening hours of that snowstorm we lost satellite reception. We had never lost a signal prior to that day.
I wanted to complain more than I had ever complained about anything. Then I immediately thought of how bad other people in our country and other countries are having it.
Due to the storm, Havre was still without power on our regularly scheduled print day. That, coupled with the fact that the power kept going out in our office, we closed the PCN office for the day.
I went home and instead of cleaning the house like a responsible husband, I went to lounge and watch a little Forged in Fire on my DVR.
A little bit annoyed at seeing that my signal wasn’t working, I went outside to see what was up with my satellite dish.
After thinking about it and accessing the situation, I knew I wasn’t going to get on top of my roof and I also knew I didn’t have anything to reach the snow on the dish.
I looked down at my dog Bruce and thought; let’s see if I could knock some snow off with a snowball.
Back when I was a kid, I had a decent throwing arm. Because of that or maybe because I was a slow runner, I was chosen to play quarterback quite often.
I tossed a few snowballs at it and immediately knew that this project was going to take a while.
I heaved and I wound up and I tossed and yikes was I terrible but after a few tries, I knocked some snow off!
After forty or fifty throws, I had gotten enough snow off and I went inside and looked to see if my hard work paid off. It worked! I turned on the TV and fell asleep to the NFL Network.
Sometimes you just gotta use what the good Lord gives you.
