This is a letter that was written home by Fred L. Robinson when he was at Camp Lewis, American Lake:

"We were glad to have the last contingent of home boys join us Friday and have kept that bunch busy answering questions since they arrived.

A few of our bunch were rejected. As yet we are still in Company C."

City to buy coin-operated bulk water dispenser

The Malta City Council voted Monday night to purchase a coin-operated water dispenser and install it in the pump house on Malta's north side. The dispenser will be for those who transport water to farms and ranches and for many other uses.

Such a system is in use in Hinsdale and the charge is 25-cents for 200 gallons of water. Although the dispenser will be installed in the side pump house, it will not draw water from that well, which is not currently being used because of the high iron content of the water.

Local theatre gets new sound system

"This gives you that extra thing you just can't get at home watching television."

That something extra is the new "surround sound" system installed earlier this week in the Villa Theatre operated by Garry and Rosetta Adams of Malta. The new sound system is not the only thing new at the theatre. As part of the roughly $16,000 renovation project, the same firm installing the sound system is installing about 2,600 square yards of acoustical wall grade sound fields or drapes.
