One Nation, Under God

Loring News for October 11, 2017

I think it has been about 3 weeks since Hurricane Maria hit the Country of Dominica where Jeff and Athlene Murdock live. Jeff grew up in Whitewater, went to the Peace Corps when he

graduated from college and has lived in Dominica for several years now. When he was able to call his family back in Whitewater he reported that they were alive but they were not ok. The whole island was demolished, all the trees were stripped or actually broken, most of the dwellings were down, etc. I just don't even know how to describe it! Supplies are slow to get into the people but if you'd like to make a donation to Jeff and Athlene, they have an account at the First Security Bank c/o Jeff Murdock Box 730, Malta, MT 59537, where you can make a donation to the family/country. Thank you so much!

The Official Visitation of the Worthy Grand Matron and Patron of Montana, Order of Eastern Star was on Friday at Sacajawea #37 and Riverview, Hinsdale#80. We had many visitors and I got to renew several friendships from the many years I've been in the organization! Lots of fellowship!

On Saturday the town of Loring was Rocking Country at the annual Fall Dance! The Loring Hall looked so nice and the music was great! Bob Galt won the $250 gift certificate from Arts Furniture, and Addam Hellie won the Flat Screen TV. Sorry, Darin Cummings, I swear I put your tickets in the bucket!

We've had a few house finches stop at our sunflowers. We here at Loring did not get snow in the last storm on Oct. 2. We did get some rain and lots of wind, of course! But when I went to Malta on Fri-day afternoon I saw the hills to the south still had snow on them! A few people up here had power outages, but Loring did not lose power. I have a feeling that the next time we are going to get hit hard!

Heather Simonson went to Oregon to surprise her sister Tamerah for her 40th birthday! The whole family surprised her at a volleyball game! So fun!

Jonnae Slade and Kallun are visiting the Lumsdens this week. All the Lumsden families were at the dance.

Many Loring people attended the wedding at the Robinson House on Saturday! It was chilly and quick!

A rainbow appeared on Saturday in the northeast! It didn't rain or anything so I interpreted it as a good sign for the rest of October! May you have a month with many hopes fulfilled!
