One Nation, Under God
If you have a Facebook page, there is a good chance that you have been bumming me out. No, not because I am a liberal snowflake, but because people, many of which I know from here or anywhere else I have lived are being really ugly to each other.
I am not “liberal” and I for sure can’t support the direction of the “conservative.” I’m a pacifist, who understands that we need to listen to one another rather than jump to a political agenda.
I have said it once before and I will say it once again; these political parties are tearing us apart. It’s sad to me.
I miss the days where I didn’t have to “unfollow” or “unfriend” someone because political memes and internet news sources were demonizing someone who thinks differently. I have lived on both sides of the spectrum. I have seen despair from rural communities and urban communities alike. Yet, here we are on social media tearing each other apart for political parties that seem like they care about you and your country’s well-being. I guarantee that the people at the top care about a few things, your money, your vote, your allegiance and power that “We the People” give them.
Lord, open the eyes of our country. We could be doing so much more than this.
So, I went back to one of the first social media websites that I have ever been a part of. Yes, it was MySpace.
Before political memes and cute cat and dog videos, Myspace.com was a glorious site where you could customize your page and leave messages on each other’s wall without other people tearing it apart. It was encouraging for me during high school and even during college.
I’m sad to say that after looking at my old page, MySpace is completely different. No one uses it anymore and the site as a whole looks terrible in my opinion.
I was hoping to relive those days where I didn’t know which party people loved and hated, but instead I am stuck seeing the ugly side of our country, through a time waster known as Facebook.
I only keep my Facebook because it helps me with the proper spelling of names of people in our community, I get to see photos of family and friends and I get to video chat with my family.
By the way, this was me trying not to write anything controversial but as you can see politics have bummed me out to where I can’t even think clearly.
I miss the days where something as simple and delicious as peanut butter and jelly could trigger a 500 word essay.
P.S. PJ does not like “tatos (tacos) or sandwiches.”
