One Nation, Under God
Have you noticed anything different on Highway 191 north of Loring at the Port of Morgan, or on 191 south of the D-Y Junction, or on Highway 2 traveling west into Malta? If not, take a drive to see three new billboards installed this year by the Malta Chamber of Commerce.
These billboards are designed to capture traveler's attention with an engaging image and simple wording, encouraging them to stop in Phillips County. The two billboards on 191 each say to; eat, shop and play in Phillips County and include the Chamber's website for more information. The Highway 2 sign directs travelers to, "turn left" and explore Malta's downtown stores, in addition to our attractions and services located on 2.
Both of the 191 billboards' photos are unique to the county and taken by local residents. The south county picture is courtesy of Peggy Bergsagel, with a shot of the river and boating, whose blue water you can see from miles away. The northern county billboard showcases a picture by Vivian Bruckner, a beautiful shot of the North Country prairie. That billboard originally belonged to the Loring Women's Club, who generously turned ownership over to the Chamber. We celebrated the transition this spring with refreshments and a ribbon cutting.
A special thank you goes out to Montana's Missouri River Country, our tourism region, who assisted financially through their Co-op marketing program. Also, thank you to Ashley Stuart and PhillCo Economic Growth Council for their assistance with the application submission and design process.
