Work of air wardens under way
With organization of air raid sectors proceeding rapidly, the work for the air raid wardens is being carried out in each section and many homes have been investigated. People are advised that all questioning and investigation is for their own protection in case of actual danger and all information received is confidential.
Important considerations are the request for every family to endeavor to own a pail of sand and a long handled shovel for use in putting out incendiary bombs and fires caused from them. If a fire extinguisher is owned by the family, the kind must be determined. Instructions for fixing a room as a shelter in the home will be given later.
High water has prevented use of River Ferry
Flood waters in the Missouri River at the Power Plant crossing on the Malta-Lewistown road has kept the ferry out of commission during the last month and according to Frank Russell, operator of the ferry, it will be out from some time due to damage to the south landing done by the high water.
A cut bank eight feet high stands at the old landing and Russell says he will have to wait until Fergus County sends machinery down to fix it, as he is stranded on the north side and unable to land anything on the opposite side.

Street Talk
Question: What is your reaction to Ross Perot bailing out of the presidential race?
Gail Goertz: Surprise, after all that work and everybody he has behind him!
Sherry Demarais: I think he should have stuck it out instead of backing out at the last minute.
Rory Schmidt: I was considering voting for him, but, I feel Clinton and Gore and the Democratic Party will make the necessary changes. The big reason is that Clinton supports rural water.
Joe Rattey: I don't then when he first started as an independent that he would finish the campaign.
Car crashes funeral chapel, but no one seriously injured
An elderly Malta woman apparently became excited after clipping a parked car while pulling away from the Malta Post Office and drove through a large plate glass window on the north side of the Adam's Funeral Home Chapel Monday morning.
Sheriff Gene Peigneux said Pauline Crowder, 81, apparently must have got excited and stepped on the gas thinking she was stepping on the break after clipping the parked car.
Witnesses said the car quickly gained speed going through the intersection south of the post office, up and over a curb, across the funeral home parking lot and through the side of the building.
Fortune smiled despite the mishap. The car made the runaway trip without encountering any pedestrians or other cars in the intersection.
