Malta Irrigation announces shut down due to lack of water

Due to the ongoing drought and wind over the last couple of months, Malta Irrigation will be shutting down for the season between the dates of August 10th -15th while the Fresno Reservoir will be shutting down starting August 3rd. Seepage and evaporation, especially evaporation, have severely diminished the water supply. While we would like to have a more definite time frame, we believe it was prudent to be proactive with our operations so irrigators could plan accordingly. Date(s) are subject to change depending on a constant flow from St. Mary's and the effect that could have on current storage levels.
