Robinson retracting withdrawal, back in Saco race

As the Phillips County News was headed to press on the morning of June 27 for the paper that week, Saco's Craig Robinson contacted the News office and reported that he was withdrawing from the race for a seat on the Saco Town Council (Roberta Christopherson and Wayne Stahl are also running for these seats, the two candidates receiving the most votes will be on the council.)

On Monday, July 1, Robinson contacted the PCN and said he is retracting his withdrawal.

"After careful consideration I've decided to stay in the Saco city council race," Robinson told the PCN via Email. "The decline of natural gas prices hit our city hard. The city's income was reduced by 75% in less than five years. There were some tough decisions made to make up for the financial losses we faced. I'd like to continue to be a part of the effort to improve our town. Being a predominately retirement community we're making every effort to keep the cost of living in Saco as low as legally possible. There are laws that dictate the price of our utilities. Every entity must be self-sustaining. Our natural gas, water, and sewer prices are probably the lowest in the county and I'll do everything possible to keep it that way."
