Sacajawea #37 places 36 Memorial Stars

Over the Memorial weekend, you may have noticed something new at Malta Cemetery.

The local Malta Order of Eastern Star, Sacajawea Chapter #37 placed silver star emblems on the headstones of past woman members.

The star emblems were discovered a little worse for wear in the basement of the Malta Masonic Hall. It was unknown to current members when the emblems were last used.

The chapter decided to refurbish the emblems and start honoring our past members on Memorial Day weekend.

After a good bead blasting and a new coat of paint, the stars were shining again.

Four members of OES braved the wind on Thursday, May 25th to place thirty-six of the star emblems.

Many of the Malta Lodge #57 were placing Masonic emblems and are also members of the Sacajawea #37 so that evening it was a group effort for all.
