One Nation, Under God
Sometimes being a photographer takes you weird places.
I received a phone call from a loan company earlier this year to become an inspec-tor.
Initially I was annoyed that an out of state company would approach me while I was struggling with a bout of writer’s block. That was until I found out that it could help someone that needed a person in my position.
I called back the company who needed my services to accept the short job. I’m glad I did because in minutes I was transformed into an inspector.
My job was simple I needed to provide proof that a loan applicant was who they said they were.
The company did a nice job of making me seem like I knew what I was doing but I have to admit when there are a few pages of literature involved I can lose focus. This loss of focus has backfired a couple of times in my life.
One instance of my losing focus was when I first signed papers for a student loan for college. I was only 17 and I had no clue what I was doing, I just wanted to go to college. I still to this day regret racking up student loan debt. I can’t but help wonder if I had thought about it if I would’ve signed my life away to go to school.
Knowing that this person’s loan application relied on me to try and do a great job, I paid a little more attention this time around. I even read through the fine print.
Long story short I overdid it. I read into it way too much and took more pictures than I was required but the job was done. In that case I believe it was better to overachieve than underachieve.
It was weird walking around with a clipboard and it was awesome to give myself a new nickname of “Inspector Bibbs,” but I am glad that is not my full time job. Then again if it paid well enough, I would consider it.
Since that job only lasted for about an hour, it was nice to get back to reality; which includes trying to remember my life’s adventures and put it on paper for those that may appreciate it.
