On Tuesday, May 9, Ken Ruzicka posted 47 points to capture first placed, edging-out Von Holzhey who netted 40 good for second. The traveling prize that day was awarded to Malcolm Clouse.
Pinochle
On Thursday, May 12, Shirley Jones was crowned winner with a tally of 7,350 to beat out Nancy Soennichsen who score 6,560. Traveling Prize was awarded to both Shirley and Clair Waters.
Malta Duplicate Bridge
On Wednesday, May 3, Margo Rush and Keith Stine captured first place. Second was awarded to Donna Olson and John Norgon.
Monday winners were Nellie Ereaux and Bob Maxie. Bonnie Millar and Margo came in second.
Hi-Line Whist
Tuesday, May 9 saw the duo of Gloria and Pearl win the first game, 15-10, before the team of Curt and Clara roared back on the second to take a 13-3 win and even action on the night.
“We were all happy that we each got one,” Pearl said.
On Friday, May 12, Agnes and Pearl won the first game 13-0 against Clara and Curt before Clara and Curt evened the action with 13-10. A final game was played on the night between Gloria and Clara against Agnes and Pearl, the latter winning in a 15-5 contest.
“It smelled for a little while then back they came and so did we,” Pearl said.
