Local schools participate in annual Invitational
Whitewater's Kia Wasson, a Havre runner, Malta's Erica Smith, a Chinook runner and Saco's Jaydyn Erickson run the 100 meter hurdles at the Malta Middle School Track Meet last Saturday.
Last Saturday the Malta Athletic Club and Malta Public Schools hosted the 2017 Malta Middle School Invitational on a day that featured several teams from around the area.
The young Malta Colts fared well in the running events. In her first home meet, Maddie Williamson won her heat of the 100 hurdles that featured two other Colts. Her time was 20.70 seconds.
"It feels good," Williamson said. "My trail leg was a little better when I practiced but I still jumped high over the hurdles so that didn't slow me down."
Williamson had previously posted a time around 19 seconds in Havre one weekend prior...
