One Nation, Under God
With saddened hearts, we announce the passing of Kurt K. Hofer. Kurt was born to David and Rebbecca Hofer on June 2, 1954 in Lewistown, Mont. He spent his childhood years at the Deerfield Colony and being the younger of 10 siblings things were always lively in the family home. In 1963 Kurt moved to the North Harlem Colony where he spent his teen years milking cows, a job which he enjoyed. There Kurt met and married his soul mate Kathryn Hofer and the two were inseparable from that day forward. Where he would go, she would go; his friends were her friends and she stayed faithfully at his side until death did them part.
As life lived on four children were born to Kurt and Kathryn: Kristy, Marvin, Glenda and Cody, whom they treasured dearly - family always being the first priority in life. In 1982, Kurt and his family moved to the Loring Colony where he resided until his passing. Kurt was an agricultural man and loved his job as field boss, spending late hours working the fields with the guys and gloried at harvest time watching the full trucks of grain roll in. After 21 years as field boss, Kurt resigned and spent the rest of his life as Loring Colony’s financial boss, being a successful businessman and acquiring a great many friends and business partners, in both Dariusleut and Leraleut colonies.
Kurt never let to much of his business keep him from spending time with family and one thing that brought him great joy was spending time with his grandchildren: Destyne, Mea, Liam, Annabel and Tyra.
It was devastating to the family and community when Kurt was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer, limiting his time on this earth. Kurt will be immensely missed by his wife Kathryn of 39 years; daughter Kristy (Andrew) of Lewistown, Mont; son Marvin and daughter Glenda (Reeves) of Ayers Colony, Mont.; and son Cody (Melissa) of Loring, Mont.
Also left to mourn his passing are brothers: Josh (Barbara), & Mike (Barbara) of Loring, Mont.; sisters: Rebbecca (Joe) Earview, SK, Elizabeth (Joe) of Stanford, Mont., Annie (Sam) of Wavy Lake, AB, Susie (Darius) of Arm River, SK, Maria (Jake) of Lajord, SK; along with many cousins, nieces, nephews and in laws.
Kurt was preceded by his parents and two brothers Dave (Elizabeth) and George (Susie) of Loring, Mont., and seven brothers-in-law.
Kurt’s family would like to thank all who called visited, prayed and helped out during his brief illness and the days thereafter. A special thank you is going out to his niece, Janet (Danny) of East Malta Colony for her nurturing care in his last days.
