Phillips County Sheriff's Report for April, 19, 2017

April 1, 2017

12:25 a.m. Female reported a possible probation violation; Deputy responded to the call; information passed onto Misdemeanor Probation Officer; case file started.

1:36 a.m. Female reported an altercation in the Zortman area; Deputies and Ft Belknap LE responded to the call; individuals left the location before LE arrival; no damage to property, only litter left in the area.

2:53 a.m. Deputies performed a welfare check on a male in a vehicle alongside of Hwy 191 south; all found to be okay, driver was just resting.

3:04 a.m. Deputies assisted a stranded motorist on Hwy 191 south of Malta; driver had run out of fuel; vehicle later fueled up and sent on its way.

3:45 a.m. Female reported a found dog.

10:27 a.m. Female requested law enforcement assistance with a situation involving her daughter; Deputy handled the call.

2:31 p.m. Female reported a possible assault on a juvenile; Deputy responded to the call; case file started.

8:54 p.m. Deputies served a local warrant on one adult female, Serena Stine; female later released on bond and given a Notice to Appear in Justice Court.

9:20 p.m. Female reported a vehicle/deer accident on Hwy 2, near Malta; Deputy responded to the call; deer humanely euthanized; case file started.

10:26 p.m. BNSF Police reported juveniles “playing chicken with the train”; Deputies responded to the call; juveniles located and advised to stay off of the tracks; information passed onto BNSF so trains could be sent through safely again.

April 2, 2017

12:07 a.m. BNSF Police reported juveniles on the tracks again; Deputies responded to the call; juveniles not located.

12:38 a.m. Male reported a family member had passed away at a local residence; Deputies responded to the call; coroner case file started.

9:10 a.m. 911 received requesting assistance for a vehicle out of fuel near the Bear Gulch turnoff; caller requested a family member be called; family member located and would assist the driver.

11:15 a.m. Female requested an ambulance for a juvenile with a knee injury at the Malta High School; local EMT Crew responded to the call; request later canceled by the reporting party.

4:25 p.m. BNSF Police reported 3 males near the tracks in the Malta area; Undersheriff responded to the call; no individuals located in the reported or surrounding areas.

6:26 p.m. Deputies performed a traffic stop which led to citations being issued for Driving While Suspended and Possession of Dangerous Drugs; case file started.

6:46 p.m. Deputy released one adult male, Troy Salveson, from PCSO Jail on time served.

April 3, 2017

2:36 a.m. Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 6 p.m. tonight until 9am Tuesday for southwest Phillips Co; 2-4 inches of snow accumulation is possible.

5:04 a.m. Female requested law enforcement assistance with an attempted suicide; Undersheriff responded to the call; situation taken care of without further incident.

6:54 a.m. Male requested law enforcement assistance with locating his missing daughter; Sheriff and Undersheriff responded to the call; case file started; information passed onto all MT law enforcement agencies as well.

9:45 a.m. Female filed a complaint regarding an elderly male’s driving; Undersheriff handled the call.

9:48 a.m. Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 6 p.m. tonight until 9am Tuesday for southwest Phillips Co; 2-4 inches of snow accumulation is possible.

2:37 p.m. Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 6 p.m. tonight until 9am Tuesday for southwest Phillips Co; 2-4 inches of snow accumulation is possible.

Several calls received from other law enforcement agencies, newspapers and radio stations requesting information on the missing juvenile; callers given the known information.

4:14 p.m. Female reported an individual possibly selling drugs; information passed onto Undersheriff and Deputy.

5:38 p.m. Caller advised they may have seen the missing juvenile in Missoula; Deputy responded to the call; Missoula PD and Missoula Co SO advised of the information.

April 4, 2017

3:06 a.m. Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 9am for southwest Phillips Co.

12:39 p.m. Female reported damage to property; Undersheriff responded to the call; case file started.

2:26 p.m. Missoula Co SO reported they located the missing juvenile; Sheriff handled the call; information added to existing case file.

Thank you for any and all assistance received from the public, law enforcement, news agencies and radio stations for helping to locate this missing juvenile.

2:56 p.m. Female reported two stray dogs at her residence east of Malta; owner later located and retrieved the dogs.

4:16 p.m. Female reported an individual advertising on social media they were selling marijuana; Deputy handled the call.

4:59 p.m. Female reported a scam.

We have been receiving calls and individuals have been coming in to report telephone calls with people asking for personal information, bank account information and needing to send money to relatives.

Calls have been received from:

• Federal Student Loan company

• Publisher’s Clearing House

• the IRS

• People claiming to be calling for a Magistrate or a Grand Jury regarding a Federal Criminal Offense

• Loan Company

• Life Alert

• People requesting a money order number so they can give you vehicles that they claim you have won

• Calling from a Montana business, such as a florist shop from another town

• Calling about a Caribbean cruise

These phone calls are scams, if it seems suspicious DO NOT GIVE any information to the caller. Ask for a call back phone number and call them back to see if it is who they are claiming to be.

The IRS and the Federal Justice System do not contact people via telephone.

Always remember the key things regarding scams:

1. If you didn't enter, you didn't win

2. If you have a lawsuit or other legal issues pending you will get notification via certified mail or served to you by an official, whether it is a law enforcement officer or a civil process server

8:55 p.m. Female reported a vehicle driving on Central Ave without headlights on; Deputy responded to the call; vehicle not located.

April 5, 2017

8:14 a.m. Local Ambulance reported to a local pre-school for a presentation.

2:13 p.m. Missoula Co Detention Center served a local warrant on one adult male, Austin Adams; male incarcerated on their charges along with this warrant.

6:44 p.m. Male and female reported an altercation that had just occurred between the two of them; did not want anything to happen just wanted it reported.

9:56 p.m. PC Hospital requested an ambulance for a flight crew pickup from the airport, transport to the hospital and back to the airport with their patient; local EMT Crew handled the call.

April 6, 2017

1:19 a.m. PC Hospital requested an ambulance for a flight crew pickup from the airport, transport to the hospital and back to the airport with their patient; local EMT Crew handled the call.

9:48 a.m. Local Ambulance reported to the Malta Grade School for a presentation.

3:53 p.m. Female reported her disabled vehicle was left on Hwy 2, east of Malta and would be removed the next day; information passed onto local MHP Trooper.

3:57 p.m. Local MHP Trooper reported an abandoned vehicle east of Saco would be towed from the location it had been sitting at for two weeks.

April 7, 2017

9:08 a.m. Local funeral home advised they would be discharging firearms for a military honors.

12:26 p.m. Male reported an IRS scam.

1:09 p.m. Female reported an IRS scam.

1:13 p.m. Local MHP Trooper requested an ambulance for a male going into diabetic shock on Hwy 191 south of Malta; local EMT Crew responded to the call; patient transported to the hospital.

1:30 p.m. Female reported a possible custody issue; Deputy handled the call.

3:32 p.m. Deputy incarcerated one adult male, Troy Salveson, into PCSO Jail to serve time on sentencing.

4:18 p.m. 911 received reporting a family member had passed away at a residence in Loring; Deputy responded to the call; coroner case file started.

5:42 p.m. Male reported a possible DUI on Hwy 2, eastbound through Malta; information passed onto local MHP Trooper; vehicle later located and one adult female, Kachina Detonancour, was transported to PCSO to be incarcerated in PCSO Jail on DUI, Disorderly Conduct and No Insurance charges.

7:11 p.m. Female reported juveniles playing near a canal bridge in Hillcrest; Deputy responded to the call; juveniles located and advised not to play under the bridge.

7:44 p.m. Female filed a complaint regarding a male harassing her and an employee; Deputy responded to the call; case file started.

7:49 p.m. Male reported a verbal dispute at a local apartment complex; Deputies responded to the call; situation taken care of without further incident.

9:06 p.m. Female requested law enforcement assistance with a civil situation; Deputy responded to the call; caller advised to contact Justice of the Peace.
