Ted Turner may purchase land here
One of Montana's most famous residents is negotiating to purchase a large tract of land in southern Phillips County.
The PCN confirmed late Tuesday that media mogul Ted Turner is close to expanding his Montana holdings through the possible purchase of some 32,000 acres of land located in the south half of Phillips County.
A spokesman for Turner reached by the PCN declined to comment on the possible purchase.
The PCN learned of the possible purchase Tuesday night when it received a faxed news release from the Friends of Animals organization headed up by Cleveland Armory....he confirmed Turner and his organization are working on a joint project involving buffalo and elephants.
Armory said that when a suitable site is found (possibly in Phillips County), the joint venture will attempt to reintroduce the Wooly Mammoth through a breeding program which will mate elephant semen genetically altered in the laboratory with that of a modern day buffalo.
