One Nation, Under God

Americanism Program at Malta VFW on March 12

Annually the Malta Mason Lodge #57 and the Order of Eastern Star (OES) Sacajawea Chapter #37 have an Americanism Program.

Previously the special guest speakers have covered historical characters of Phillips County to the proper folding and colors of the American Flag.

On Sunday, March 12 at 3 p.m. in the Malta VFW Club the guest speaker will be Jennifer Wilkinson.

Many of you may recognize her as an employee at the Phillips County Hospital as a Home Health Nurse Aide/Nursing student or in the PALS program.

Others will know her as the State Preventive Medicine NCO/ESO for the Army National Guard.

I had the privilege of meeting Wilkinson the first time the Lodge #57 and Sacajawea #37 served the HLRC residents dinner in 2016.

Wilkinson revealed how while on military duty overseas they were able to start an Order of Eastern Star. There were several hoops to jump through and dress code was an issue, but get a Chapter started they did indeed.

Have you ever been a member of the OES or know someone who is? Would you like to know a little more about how military women clear hurdles to start and maintain an American tradition overseas?

Then come on over and hear a great talk! For the inquiring minds there will be a question and answer period.

There will also be plenty of red, white and blue door prizes. All followed by a lasagna, garlic bread, salad and dessert free will offering dinner to benefit the Masonic Home in Helena, Mont. and the OES.

The Sacajawea Chapter #37 has an adopted Star sister, Francis Carparelli, at the Masonic Home who receives Christmas and other gifts yearly.

Everyone is welcome.
