One Nation, Under God

Week 2 is already better than week 1, upward and onward

Good news at the Hebert household as Stella, the 7-year-old family Chihuahua, is back to 100-percent. She is eating regularly, has some pep in her step and is back to her Chihuahua temperament (i.e. I love you, leave me alone.) It was looking pretty grim last week, but we stopped listening to the vet – in fact did everything in reverse fashion from what the vet was saying – and within 48 hours, we had our old dog back.

That’s the good news.

The bad news comes in the form of those Oakland Raiders…yikes. Without their starting quarterback, my long-time team looked like a soup sandwich. There is an old cliché in sports that says football (any ball really) is a team sport. While I mostly buy into that platitude, I will say that without Derick Carr at quarterback, the Raiders are indeed a team, I’m just not sure what sport they were playing on Saturday.

Selah.

In last week’s column I said I would gladly trade my dog getting better for my football team getting smacked and I got my wish. There will be more football next season, but there is only one Stella (a fact that also makes the puppy and cat happy.)

Next week’s football predictions include each team that blew out their competition getting blown out themselves, with one exception. The Texans, Steelers and Seahawks will all get demolished next week and the Packers will leave Dallas with an upset win.

Tis all for now, thanks for reading and aloha.
