One Nation, Under God
The Malta-Whitewater Wrestlers had a relatively short break as the group was able to squeeze in one last event before the end of 2016. The wrestlers traveled to Shelby for The Santa Showdown held by Shelby-Valier on Thursday, December 22.
Malta wrestled impressively, with six of their eight wrestlers placing first in their individual weight classes; each of those first place finishers going undefeated.
Colter Schipman went 3-0 in the 120 pounds class, Callan Mears went 3-0 in the 126 class, Trey Simanton went 3-0 in the 138 class, Ceaton Mears went 3-0 in the 145 class, Andres Lopez went 3-0 in the 160 class and Travis Epperson went 3-0 in the 170 class. Miles Bunk participated in the 205 class and Frankie Werk participated in the heavyweight class.
"They got in good matches before Christmas break," Coach Ryan LaBrie told the PCN. "They all wrestled really well as far as that goes. The Huntley Duals and Shepherd Duals got cancelled."
The team's next action is scheduled for Thursday, January 5 in Chester and then on Friday and Saturday at the Cut Bank Invitational.
