One Nation, Under God

Nearly 50 at Boy's & Girls Club Santa's Workshop

It was a winter wonderland of fun at the Malta Boys and Girls Club on Monday night, November 28. The Club teamed up with Malta Merchants & local organizations to give parents a night out shopping and their children an evening of fun Christmas activities.

Malta Boys & Girls Club was decked out for the evening, complete with outdoor lights welcoming participants as they arrived for the festivities. Club staff and their volunteer helpers were dressed in fun Holiday garb for the special event. A total of Forty-seven kids, aged five to eleven, checked in at the North Pole Desk and were then escorted by Santa's friendly elves to a variety of activity stations.

First on the list was Santa's Workshop where adorable Christmas ornaments were made with the Malta Dirt Daubers Garden Club. "Elfie" selfie funny photos were next, taken by MadGab Photography, complete with props and photo frames. Downstairs in Mrs. Claus' Kitchen the Malta Kiwanis Club and Malta High School reACT members helped kids decorate Christmas cookies for their families. In Rudolph's Barn, kids had a wild time playing Reindeer Games with the Grinch and some Malta High School reACT reindeer. Afterward, kids could take a rest and visit the Elf Lounge for some hot cocoa and elf snack mix and then finish the night playing Christmas Bingo.

"Thanks to the Malta Merchants, Kiwanis and Garden Club, and a mini grant from Thrivent Financial this event was definitely a success," said Club Director, Sonia Young. "We planned for fifty kids and 47 attended. Parents had a couple hours to shop for Christmas presents for their kids, while their kids had a fun time at the Club."

All proceeds will be used to purchase items for the Boys & Girls Club Christmas Store, where kids can buy gifts with their Christmas Club Bucks for their families.
