One Nation, Under God
Thursday, September 15 saw the Dodson-Whitewater Harriers tackling the ever tough Frazer Invitational meet. Three of the Harriers posted personal bests in one of the last true cross-country courses with the beautiful Missouri River in the background and including the infamous “killer hill”.
“It rained down there,” Harriers Coach Bruce Warren said. “And the course was muddy but by the time the varsity kids ran it was dried up enough.”
For the ladies, Bella Lawless finished in 32nd place with a time of 26.07, a personal best for her. Serena Sanguins finished in 54th place with a time of 41.36, also a personal best for her.
“They were really pleased with their times,” Coach Warren said. “Frazer is a tough course. A lot tougher than Malta’s and when you can better your time from Malta to Frazer, you’re doing good.”
For the men, Tyrese Messerly finished in 25th place with a time of 20.19. Corbain Lone Bear finished in 26th place with a time of 20.24. Trevor Walker finished in 34th place with a time of 20.54, a personal best for him. Jasper Doney finished in 49th place with a time of 28.12.
“The boys ran good,” Coach Warren said. “They are holding pretty steady and holding their own.”
Five of the six Harriers have now qualified for State. The Harriers will complete in the Glasgow Invitational on September 24, to be held at Fort Peck.
“It’s a flat course,” Coach Warren said. “It’s all on walking trails. It’s a fast course but it’s all flat and there are no hills.”
