Enersons honored with patriotic award

Malta residents, Dale and Elaine Enerson were honored last week in a brief ceremony in which VFW Auxiliary President, Cheryl Wallace presented the couple with the VFW Patriotic Citizen Award. They were honored for their continual display of the US Flag on the pole on the corner of their yard, which is light up at night and wrapped in a string of colored lights as well.

The certificate reads: Given in grateful appreciation for unsolicited inspirational patriotic service to the community through daily display of our National Flag

Dale said he started flying the flag daily about five years ago - right about the time his two grandchildren entered the military. His granddaughter, Cassandra Black is in the National Guard and grandson Michael Black is currently serving in the military in Okinawa.

Also attending the presentation were Ernest Becker of the VFW and Kari Hould of the VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries
