Donald Lee Helm

Donald Lee Helm, 87, of Miles City passed away Saturday, March 19, 2016, at the Riverstone Hospice Home in Billings, Mont. A Military Memorial will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 27, 2016, at the Landusky Community Center. Inurnment will be at the Landusky Cemetery with a luncheon following.

Don was born December 20, 1928 in Aberdeen, S.D. He entered the United States Army serving his country during the Korean War Conflict for which he received a purple heart. After he was honorably discharged, he returned to Miles City where he went to work for the Milwaukee Railroad. Don also worked at the National Fish Hatchery and for John Etchemendy at BFI until his retirement.

Don is survived by his wife Faye Duvall, six children, Debra Valencia of Surprise, Ariz, Denise Helm of Peoria, Ariz, Donnie Helm of Bozeman, Mont., Dori Boulanger of Silverthorne, Colo., Derre Helm of Billings, Mont., and Dan Helm of Miles City, Mont., nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, three step-children, seven step-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and his faithful dog Brandy.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Dolores Hecht.

Don loved spending his summers with family and friends at the cabin he built in Landusky, also building his home on Cottonwood Creek in Miles City. Don was a happy, fun loving man and a real jokester with a great sense of humor. He was a kind giving man that would do anything for anyone. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and four wheeling.
