MDT proposes project for U.S. Highway 2

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) would like to notify the public and seek comments on a proposal to micro-surface about 8.1 miles of U.S. Highway 2 between Dodson and Malta in Phillips County. The project begins east of Dodson at reference post 458.6 (east of the railroad overpass) and extends east for 8.1 miles ending west of Malta at reference post 466.72.

Proposed work includes micro-surfacing to fill ruts, seal and cover, centerline and shoulder rumble strips, delineation, and pavement markings. The purpose of the project is to extend the life and service of the existing pavement.

The project is tentatively scheduled for construction in 2018, depending on completion of all project development activities and availability of funding. No new right-of-way or utility relocations will be needed.
