Wilke wins state at Knights free throw competition

Malta has had a plethora of athletes who have made noise on a state level. One of the more recent State Champions is ten-year-old Treyton Wilke, who in February won the Knights of Columbus Free Throw Divisional Meet in Havre. After further review and compiled totals around, Wilke was crowned state champion in his group. Wilke sank 18 of his 25 attempts.

"I was kind of nervous but I guess I pulled it off," Wilke told the PCN.

Though he won the award in February, he just received his trophy a week ago. He won his award before his favorite National Basketball League player but his favorite player LeBron James still got his trophy faster.

Though James is his favorite player Wilke has come up with his own free throw ritual.

"I look down, dribble three times and look up for like three seconds and shoot," Wilke said.

In Havre, Wilke was the first one to shoot his free throws in his age group but he made the best of his only round and held on to win.
