Malta

§ Happy belated birthday to Michelle Smith who turned a nifty 50 last week.

§ Arena and Dally Niebur celebrated their 12th birthday last week, happy birthday ladies.

§ It was reported that Shane Carnahan’s first trip to the Malta Skatepark went awry as he left the hospital following the skate session wearing a brace on his foot which he will wear few weeks after suffering two hairline fractures.

§ Dan Bain warns Malta residents traveling around town during the hours of 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. to be careful as his daughter, Kaylanna, will be behind the wheel of a Driver’s Education Car, adding “you might want to head to higher ground.”

§ The Malta Girl Scouts are hosting a Patriotic Day Camp on Saturday, July 16 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Trafton Park. For more information contact Glenda Knudsen at 654-4138.

§ Devyn Salsbery recently completed her CNA training and is now a certified CNA, Congrats, Devyn (happy birthday, too!)

§ Malta High School’s Dawn Jenkins – and fellow cast mates – completed a four-week run of the production of Man of LaMancha at the Fort Peck Summer Theatre. Way to break a leg, Dawn.

§ Valene Kielb reported that her father, Greg – of KMMR fame – had surgery last Wednesday morning and is doing really well. She said the doctors did six bypasses and Greg will spend a few more days in the hospital.

§ Happy birthday to Andrea Lien who turns 33 this week.

§ PCN Sports editor Pierre Bibbs showed up after lunch on Thursday complaining of being “a little dizzy” and attributed the spins to too much coffee in the morning and too many ribs for lunch. An hour later he was feeling “okay” and said he thinks he will survive.

§ The PCN has extra copies of the PC Fair Open Class Premium Book. Stop by, say “hi” and pick some up.

If you have thoughts on the future of the Malta City Pool, there will be a meeting on Monday, July 11 at 6 p.m. at City Hall.

§ PCN reporter/ad rep and all around great gal Sarah Osmundson, and her husband Russell, attended her 30th Class Reunion in Plentywood, Mont. (as part of the school’s 100th avvivsary.)

§ If you see Barb Wiebe this week, wish her a happy one as her birthday is on Wednesday.

§ Congrats to Dale Kaasa on his 10 year anniversary of working at Equity Co-op.

§ Wendy Hopkins reported that her husband, Nick, caught and removed a rattle snake on their property last Tuesday.
