Garbage Rate Increase

RESOLUTION #1209

A RESOLUTION PORVIDING FOR AN INCREASE IN THE GARBAGE RATES FIXING THE EFFECTIVE DATE, AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLIC NOTICE AND A PUBLIC HEARING ACCORDING TO THE PROVISION MCA-69-7-111:

WHEREAS: It has been determined that the present garbage rate is not sufficiently high enough to meet proposed garbage operating costs, and

WHEREAS: Section 69-7-111 through Section 69-7-121 provide for increase by municipal utility in its utility rate subject to notice and hearing procedures.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:

1. That the following rate increase shall be adopted, effective July 1, 2016.

This new schedule of rates and charges shall supersede and take the place of the present rate and charges.

The new rate will be $304.00 per year per unit or $25.34 per month per unit the utility charges on the customers of Malta and outlying area for garbage charges. Empty lot garbage rates will be increased by $84.00 per year per unit. There will be no reduced and cold storage garbage rates; these accounts will be charged the new rates.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:

1. That the procedures specified in MCA 69-7-111 through 69-7-121 be fol-lowed, that the public hearing held on June 28, 2016 with a meeting of the city council held after the public hearing on that date and the NOTICE OF HEARING was published in the Phillips County News on June 8, 2016, June 15, 2016 and June 22, 2016.

PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MALTA ON THE 28TH DAY OF JUNE 2016 AND APPROVED BY THE MAYOR ON THE 28TH DAY OF JUNE 2016.
