Cummings, Funk headed to Class C State Meet

Both Saco and Whitewater girls’ track teams were represented at the 2016 Eastern C Divisional in Sidney last week. Whitewater took eleventh as a team with ten points while Saco took thirteenth with six points.

Kayleigh Cummings was Whitewater’s lone placer at the meet, taking first place in shot put with a throw of 32-7, a new personal best. She also participated in javelin and posted an impressive throw of 94-0 but took tenth in the event.

Bella Lawless placed eighth in the 3200 with a time of 15:50.67. She also placed ninth in the 1600 with a new best of 6:54.41 and ninth in shot put with a throw of 28-5 ¾.

Serena Sanguins took thirteenth in the 400 with a time of 1:51.13 and fourteenth in discus with a throw of 70-6.

Saco was represented by Bailey Funk who qualified in pole vault after clearing her current best mark of 8-6. She took third in the event.

Funk nearly placed in triple jump leaving a mark at 30-0 ¾.

Funk also posted a leap of 14-4 ¾ in long jump but took eleventh in the event.
