One Nation, Under God
Let me start off first by saying I love my momma. I always have and always will.
I have heard from one or more people that I am a momma’s boy. There was a time I didn’t see it, until I did.
It was around my birthday in 2010. I was living in Florida at the time with a band of Australians. My mother, father and brothers were living in Bolingbrook, IL at the time after living in New Jersey for the previous four years.
My mother and father were originally going to go on a cruise to Nassau in the Bahamas together. My father then was unable to make the trip and my mother had an extra ticket to pay for.
Knowing that I lived close to a nearby Port, my mother invited me to join her on the cruise. I had never been on a cruise before so the idea of one intrigued me. (I think she offered because I missed the family cruise they took with my brothers a couple of years prior.)
I went on this cruise excited for a few days of unlimited food and relaxation.
I’m terrible at relaxing so I didn’t do too well… Unless I was eating.
When I was younger, I felt like a machine. I believe that in my prime I could take down the equivalent of a large pizza from Stretch’s.
The food was amazing.
I think the only thing that got me out of bed on that trip was knowing that upstairs they had custom omelettes and any other type of breakfast food you could desire.
The main course was always on point. My favorite thing I had on the cruise was a mango soup. I loved it so much as an appetizer, I ordered another for dessert.
I loved that cruise even when we hit turbulence.
The only awkward thing is that people often thought I was married to my mom!
To her credit I guess she is aging better than I am!
But imagine being a single man on a ship and people think your mother is your wife! Yep so that happened…
It was a great trip in lieu of the awkward moments!
The trip was beautiful and I definitely want to go back to Nassau one day.
