One Nation, Under God
Dave Rummel came to the Phillips County News to share a story that is so fitting for the upcoming Memorial Day Holiday. (Rummel told the PCN staff that technically flowers are not to go out in the cemetery until May 26th but he made an exception in this case.)
Earl R. Sukut arrived in Malta from Cascade on Wednesday, May 18 to place flowers on another veteran's grave at the Malta Cemetery.
Sukut is a veteran of the Air Force 472nd Engineer Aviation Battalion (EAB) having served from 1952-1954.
Sukut made a special delivery for Cody Ann Allery of Missoula.
Sukut said he would put flowers on her Dad's grave, who he also had known.
Allery is the daughter of John Elmer Allery, SP4, US Army who passed on October 21, 1991.
"From one Veteran to another," Sukut had told Rummel. That was his way of paying respect and honor.
Rummel relayed that he had mentioned to Sukut, "you must have came for something else, too?"
Sukut had responded, "No. This is the only reason I'm here. I just came to put the flowers out and I'm going home."
