Mustangs take second in 2B Meet

Malta led by Raybon, relay teams in Glasgow; team qualifies ten for Northern B Meet

The Malta Mustangs took second in last Saturday's 2B District meet with a total of 118. The team qualified for twenty spots in next week's Northern B Divisional in Great Falls this Saturday.

Glasgow won the 2B meet with a total of 206 points. Harlem was third with 86 points, Wolf Point was fourth with 73 and Poplar was fifth with 40.

Devon Raybon took first in high jump after clearing 5-10. Raybon also took second in triple jump with a length of 39-8 ½, a new personal best.

The long relay team consisting of Dominic Judd, Tyson Carney, Ostin Welch and Allen Williamson took first with a time of 3:43.15.

The short relay team consisting of the same athletes took second with a time of 46.41.

Judd and Glasgow's Luke Breigenzer had a couple of close races in the hurdle events with photo finishes at the end of each race. Judd took second in the 110 hurdles with a time of 16.35 (Breigenzer 16.19) and second in the 300 hurdles with a time of 42.35 (Breigenzer 42.08).

Tyson Carney took second in javelin after a throw of 160-11. He also took fourth in the 400 with a new personal best of 54.24.

"We have quite a few solid javelin throwers in our district so it's good competition," Carney said. "I threw 160-11, it's not my best but it's not bad at all."

Carney's goal was to hit 170 at the meet but it didn't happen so he will work on a couple of things this week.

"Next week I'm probably going to work on my crossover steps and working on exploding out of those and getting my last explosion step so I can throw it far and block hard," he said.

Jace Bishop took second in the 800 with a new personal best of 2:14.95. He took third in the javelin with a throw of 160-2. He took fifth in high jump after clearing 5-6 and sixth in pole vault with a new best of 8-6.
