One Nation, Under God
When buying our house there were a lot of details I didn’t pay extremely close attention to. Over time I’ve come to find simple things have enhanced our experience living there.
One of these details that I have found is that the lighting in our kitchen was really dim. I assumed it was simply because of the bulky light fixture but as the bulbs were nearly going out the other night, I knew I had to change it out for fear of trying to cook in the dark.
I opened up the fixture, which required two people to get down, only to realize that there were four light bulbs instead of the two that I had assumed.
Though I have changed hundreds of ceiling lights for some reason I couldn’t get the bulb out. So I called a professional. It came down to me just having to twist harder.
So I twisted with a good amount of force, hoping the first bulb wouldn’t burst in my hands.
Luckily the bulb came out without incident.
I drove to Farmers and Ranchers and grabbed a pair of lights.
After putting in a new set of lights I found out very quickly that I needed to replace all four bulbs.
I was mildly annoyed that I didn’t consider that I would need to change them all but when I did, something amazing happened.
The kitchen instantly went from dreary to high definition! The lights are so bright that my wife Susan and I may leave the cover off.
Though the lighting was terrific at first sight it also brought out the grime spots on our kitchen stove and I think our electricity may go up. Oh well.
I just have to say that I’m proud of all of our local athletes, whether you have received an award this season or not.
It was really neat seeing all of the athletes at this year’s Malta High School Awards ceremony last Thursday.
It was also a great reminder of the opportunities students have here in Phillips County. The opportunities here have awarded many students the chance to continue playing sports on the next level.
I was proud to know that I have had the opportunity to see records be broken during my time as a sports writer for the PCN.
Thanks for the memories guys.
