One Nation, Under God
Hello Malta and Phillips County!
I'm Cary Woodruff, and I am the new paleontologist at the Great Plains Dinosaur Museum. I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and to thank everyone for such a warm and generous welcome. Originally I grew up in a small rural town in central Virginia, so I'm a country boy at heart and I truly love farming communities. For the past 10 years I've lived in Bozeman getting my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Paleontology at MSU. Go Cats! I did both of my degrees alongside the former paleontologist Dr. Liz Freedman-Fowler, and she wants me to tell everyone hello, and that she misses Malta.
For those of you who do not know, Malta possesses two amazing museums. The Great Plains Dinosaur Museum and the Phillips County Museum are amazing facilities and their collections are astounding. To think that "little" Malta has two great museums, when "big" Billings only has one truly says something powerful about the Phillips County community. If you've never stopped by, then I say "Welcome!". We will be doing some great and fun programs throughout the summer. Some include new volunteer opportunities, new programs to vitalize and ensure the success of the Museum's collection, a monthly fire pit lecture series, the duck race, and of course, our annual Wine & Dino. We welcome and invite everyone to the Wine & Dino, and along with entertainment and seeing the facilities, we will be unveiling a new dinosaur specimen never before seen at the Museum. Dates and more information will be on our website, all of the relevant city calendars, and of course in the paper. I invite everyone to the Great Plains Dinosaur Museum this summer; to see the astounding fossils we have, and at the very least to give a handshake and introduce myself. I thank Malta and Phillips County for this great opportunity, and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call, email, or stop by. I look forward to meeting everyone!
