One Nation, Under God
The Malta track teams traveled down to Glasgow last Tuesday, May 3 for the North/East Top Ten meet. The M-ettes took first out of 17 teams, while the Mustangs took seventh out of 22 teams.
M-ettes
The M-ettes were led by Sophia Stiles who won five events. She won the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.59 seconds. She also won the 300 hurdles with a time of 46.93, a new best. Stiles won the high jump after clearing 5-2. She won the long jump after leaving a mark at 17-5 and the triple jump with a length of 34-6.
Kaitlyn Smith had a strong meet winning in both javelin and shot put. She had a new personal best of 36-10 ¾ in shot put and she had a throw of 133-8.
Mystic Striker took first place in both the 1600 and 3200. She set a new personal best in the 1600 with a time of 5:35.50. Her 3200 time was 12:43.78.
Marley Manoukian took second in the triple jump with a length of 32-9 ½. She also took fifth in the 300 hurdles with a time of 51.08, a new season best. Manoukian posted a new best in the long jump. She set the mark at 15-6, which was good enough for fifth place.
Mary Grace Kalal took fifth in discus after recording a throw of 97-6. She also took sixth in javelin with a throw of 107-6.
Mustangs
The Mustangs were led by Dominic Judd who took first in the 300 hurdles with a time of 41.44 seconds, which is a new season best.
Judd also took second place in the 110 hurdles with a time of 16.19.
Tyson Carney took second in javelin with a throw of 170-1, a new personal best. Glasgow’s Benji Phillips won the event with a throw of 178-8.
Devon Raybon tied for third place in high jump after clearing 6-0.
Tel Jensen took seventh in the 110 hurdles with a time of 17.62, a new personal best.
Ostin Welch took eighth place in the 400 with a time of 54.62.
