Harvey "Lloyd" Jones, 83, passed away May 7, 2016, at his home in Hinsdale.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 13th, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Hinsdale High School, with Pastor Howard Pippin officiating. Burial will follow at Hillview Cemetery in Hinsdale. A luncheon will follow burial.
Lloyd was born on October 16, 1932 to Harvey and Marion (Gaasch) Jones, in Hinsdale, Montana. He married Evelyn Weed September 26, 1953 in Big Fork, Montana. They had four children; Debbi, Lorri, Michael and Chuck. Evelyn was the love of his life for 62 years.
At eight years old he stayed at the dugout for six weeks with Albert Chesterson, scattering bulls and keeping the strays out. His summers were spent up north riding with the "old cowboys."
Lloyd spent two years in Big Fork Montana working as a logger for his father-in-law. He worked at the Glasgow Air Force Base as a masonry concrete foreman until the base closed in 1968. He then became a carpenter until he was able to pursue his lifelong dream of being a rancher in 1976.
Lloyd graduated from Hinsdale High School in 1952. Was an avid Raider fan and attended all eight state tournaments the Raiders ever played in.
He loved ranching, gardening, his grandchildren, sports and telling old time stories.
Lloyd is survived by his wife, Evelyn; daughters, Debbi Sjostrom and Lorri (Corby) Palm; sons, Michael (Teresa) Jones and Chuck (Angie) Jones; grandchildren Kipp Sjostrom, Amy (Brian) Sjostrom, Cody (Tina) Palm, Josh (Miranda) Palm, JoLysa Jones, Hannah Jones, Jade Jones, Wrangler Jones, Ryder Jones, Layna Jones, A'Aligha Jones, Nikiyah Jones, Milo Jones, Taz (Kendra) Jones, Cierra (Jeff) Jones, Savannah (Austin) Staley, Jacob (Lexie) Jones and Evie Jones; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters, Agnes (John) Mogan, Dorothy Hickinger, Opal (Jay) Rosendahl, Joan (Jim) Dimsdale, Alma (Terry) Hering and Julanne Gauger; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey (Leona) Jones; mother, Marion (Johnny) Porteen; special parents, Bob and Alice McElvain and Frank Lock; and borhters-in-law, Flick Flickinger and Stan Christianson.
